This is a front cover for Q magazine, it uses three main colours throughout, these three colours are; red, white and black. The use of the same colours shows continuity and makes the piece look neat and therefore more professional. The red colours are used for the more important features perhaps, this is because it stands out from the rest of the page.
This is a front page cover from kerrang! magazine, this front cover also uses the same colour scheme throughout its front page, these main colours are; yellow, black, white and red, the red also looks as if it is used to stand out from the rest of the text on that page.

This magazine front cover has been taken from NME Magazine, it's main image is of Jay-Z who is a world famous muscian. He is easily identifiable by the majority of the public and especially by those who are likely to purchase this magazine, giving the magazine a unique selling point over other magazine that will not offer the readers an interview with the same person. The way that the image is staged gives the impression that the person interviewing jay-Z is amazed or shocked at either what he is hearing or just to be in the same prescence as him, creating a scense that the audience are in for a treat by choosing to read this article.
The masthead from the front cover are two well recognised names within the companies industry, enabling the audience to be interested in the story, potentially creating a unique selling point for the issue. A bold red coulour has been selected by the designer so that it catches the readers eye and stands out well, this may have been chosen because it has many connotations, such as love, danger and heat. The style of font which has been chosen is bold and fairly large, yet again catching the readers view and helping the story stand out to potential customers.
The posistion of the two people featured within the frame, makes them both seem equal in power status, there both the same height on the page and both seem to come across friendly, this gives the audience the impression that it is going to be a laid back and unformal interview, something that readers will want.
Jay-Z's appearance has been made as appealing as possible by presenting him as fashionable and well groomed. Attributes has been enhanced where possible by the use of computer editing so that he looks as appealing as he can do, it looks like he has had his teeth whitened. His facial expression seems smug and as if all things are going well for him which could be a reason for reading an interview, this may attract the readers. The lights that apear to be reflecting from his sunglasses could have been used to represent camera flashes, connotating that he is a famous person.
All of the text that is used is chosen so that it is not complicated for the reader to read, this is becasue the use of complex text will put readers off from reading any further, a lot of effort will turn consumers away at first glance.
The magazine offers readers an insight into future big artists who are set to emerge in the following year, this may inspire the audience to go and see these artists whilst the demand is still lower.
